- I got my results — what should I do next?
Start by understanding where you are now — and what your potential is.
- Life expectancy - your estimated lifespan based on KamaLama factors (All factors)
- Potential life expectancy - life expectancy you can expect if all your factors are in their best positive range
- Biological age - your current estimate of physiological “age”, which directly correlates with your life expectancy factors
Don’t be upset if your scores are low. A low score is a great starting point to work on your recommendations and bring your result closer to your potential.
Learn your report
- Identify how each factor impacts your results and what you can improve
- Look for the factors that are currently taking years away and how they should change
- Find out if there are unanswered factors like blood results or measurements. Plan your actions.
- Praise your strong areas — keep “In a good range” factors at the same level.
- Check your risks. Find out if there are any factors that increase your risk
- Consider sharing your report with a qualified clinician to improve your action plan. Track your progress and test regularly
- Retake the test regularly and compare your results.
- Add reminders to your calendar
- Share the test with friends and family — improving together is often easier and more sustainable.
- How do I track my progress?
- Every time you add or update your answers, KamaLama will save them in your progress board and update your result.
- Your recommended next check date will also be updated.
- You can find your progress board in the menu or near your result.
- Retake the test at least once a year, and sooner if you’re actively changing lifestyle habits or tracking biomarkers.
- How are the test results calculated?
KamaLama translates scientific evidence into a single, understandable result. The number of years we add or subtract is an approximation of effects seen in research on all-cause mortality (risk of death from any cause).
- If a factor adds years in KamaLama, it reflects a pattern that is associated with lower all-cause mortality in the evidence. If a factor removes years, it reflects a pattern that is associated with higher all-cause mortality.
How the result is calculated:
- Baseline first: we start with your age, sex, and country to estimate a baseline reference for your cohort.
- Factor scoring: each answer updates your risk profile using evidence-based scores derived from research on how that factor relates to mortality risk.
- Meta-analytic weighting: factors don’t have equal impact, and combinations can amplify or offset each other, so we apply a meta-analytic model that weights and integrates the factors on top of your baseline to estimate your potential, biological age, and life expectancy.
See details in our Whitepaper.
- Why did you choose these factors and not others?
We focus on factors supported by strong evidence on all-cause mortality — the risk of death from any cause (for example, a change that reduces heart-disease deaths but increases deaths from other causes may not improve all-cause mortality).
We screened the peer-reviewed health science literature step by step:
- ~7.6 million publications screened
- ~68,000 studies considered (limited to those reporting all-cause mortality outcomes)
- ~6,000 studies retained (large, statistically solid studies)
- ~600 findings kept (strong, consistent associations using common effect sizes like HR/RR/OR)
- ~30 factors selected (high-confidence, practical to measure, and useful for real people)
We continuously monitor new research and update the model — adding new factors once strong evidence emerges. You can review the scientific sources in our Resource Library.
- Why does KamaLama not include diet?
Nutrition research is often controversial, highly individual, and harder to measure reliably through self-reported food habits, so KamaLama prioritises indicators with stronger evidence and clearer measurement. Several of our included factors are meaningfully influenced by nutrition (directly or as proxies):
- Body Mass Index (BMI): A simple height/weight indicator that often reflects long-term energy balance and dietary patterns.
- HbA1c: Shows average blood glucose over ~3 months and helps indicate metabolic health and diabetes risk.
- LDL cholesterol: A key cardiovascular risk marker; diet can affect LDL.
- Processed meat intake: Higher intake is associated with a modestly higher all-cause mortality risk in research.
- Omega-3 Index: Higher omega-3 status tends to be associated with lower mortality risk.
- CRP (C-reactive protein): A blood marker of systemic inflammation that can be influenced by overall diet quality and body composition.
- How is KamaLama different from other health tests and well-being platforms?
KamaLama is different by design — it’s built to be science-first, transparent, and accessible.
- Strictly science-based: we include only factors supported by strong, consistent research and linked to all-cause mortality (with standard statistical thresholds).
- 30 evidence-based factors: covering multiple health domains, not a few unclear “scores.”
- Completely free: no hidden fees, ads, brand deals, or sponsored recommendations.
- Privacy-first: we don’t collect, sell, or use your answers to build a profile about you.
- Why is KamaLama free?
We treat longevity knowledge as a public good — not a commercial product.
- Mission: give anyone, in any country, a clear, science-based view of what can truly change life expectancy — regardless of income, insurance, or access to doctors.
- Free by design: KamaLama is free, and we intend to keep it that way.
- How we stay free: the project is funded by our founders and by people who choose to support us (patrons and donors).
- No commercialisation: no ads, no brand promotions, no sponsored recommendations.
- No paywalls: no “premium” features locked behind payment.
- Privacy-first: we don’t sell user data.
- Non-profit: all donations and investments go directly into product development.
- Do you store my data?
Privacy is our core principle.
Your data stays only on your device. KamaLama uses your answers to calculate your result in real time — not to build a profile on you. After you close the page, your answers stay only on your device (if your browser keeps them).
- You can save your results as a PDF inside your report.
- In the “Data” section in the menu, you can access data on another device, export and import it manually.
- Clear your data anytime by selecting “Clear data”.
- Where can I read more?
- On each factor page, you’ll find a Scientific summary — a clear, plain-language overview of the research findings behind that factor. You can also access these summaries in the Library section.
- Further down the same page, the Health tips section offers practical guidance and recommendations to help you improve that factor.

- Can KamaLama replace a doctor?
No. KamaLama provides educational, informational, science-based insights, but it does not replace medical advice. We suggest you review your report with your doctor or another medical professional, especially if there are any out-of-range results.
- How can I report an error or bug?
We very much welcome any feedback.
